Poets for Pussy Riot - William Rowe

Seeing there were over 30 poets reading on Wednesday evening, I thought I'd just select a few to say a few words about their remarkable performances, in the hopes that would shed some light on the evening as a whole. All the videos can be found here - http://www.youtube.com/fowlerpoetry

William Rowe, to those that know his work, is as an important a representation of the very best in poetry - the most stringently considered and intellectual and politically erudite - as exists in last half decade of British writing. A critic, theorist, teacher, translator and poet par excellence, he has influenced untold dozens without self promotion, while carefully honing a lifetime of poetic engagement, ever connected with a social responsibility that belies any possible discussion of the avant garde as self regarding. His reading on wednesday was impassioned  darkly witty and fractured in the most concise and impacting manner. It was a great privilege to witness.
